‘Gender reveal’ parties, photos and announcements are a relatively new trend. They first began their popularity in the late 2000’s after social media (aka Facebook) gained traction.
Different from a ‘Baby Shower’, whose purpose is to spoil the expecting parents with a variety of gifts Wrap Carrier, a gender reveal is often a big part of a pregnancy, hyping up family, friends and social media followings as they look forward to the announcement.
We love a good gender reveal here at VIXSA, and see them almost daily as we scroll the pregnancy world that we follow along with on the gram.
We thought we would compile a little list of fun and exciting gender reveal ideas, just for you mama!
1. Envelope Surprise – We love the idea of asking the radiographer to pop the gender into an envelope to discover later. This is something that you can choose to enjoy as a couple or family, together – or video it and share it with your tribe! We love the way Kyree + Ben (@misskyreeloves) announced the gender of baby Denver via a cute little video on Instagram last year. Heart-warming! Check it out here
2. Confetti Cannons – I mean, we all love a good explosion of confetti, so what better way to discover baby’s gender than with a bang? We love Yummy Mummy Maria Digeronimo’s idea of gathering their nearest and dearest and exploding some confetti cannons to reveal a snowfall of blue confetti as they announced they were having a boy. 3. Colour Schemed Theme – when Brittany Noonan posted a photo of herself dressed in blue with a gorgeous floral arrangement clutched against her bump, Instagram erupted with a flow of congratulations and excitement for their family. After two girls, a boy was a wonderful surprise and we love this way of visually sharing baby’s gender! Have a peek here
4. The Gender Reveal Cake – the original and the most delish idea has got to be the cake! I mean, who doesn’t love a good cake and especially when it’s filled with a special surprise! How gorgeous is this cake from Star Bird Bakehouse? Those pastel tones stole out heart! Check it out here
